There is a lot of talk these days about wellness. Seems to me like it has become more of an ideal to many, like the fountain of youth. For some wellness is a goal, for others it is nothing more than a marketing tactic. Much like the disappointment of following a sign that says SPA only to find nail services only.
People strive for wellness in a variety of ways, for many it involves eating only the best and engaging their bodies in physical activities.
For some this seems to be the solution, yet it seems that there are ever changing ceilings to reach in order for this route to equate a fully defined sense of wellness. When you are always dependent on external forces to dictate your internal state of wellness you can never truly be free.
At a spiritual retreat hosted by acclaimed author Ekhart Tolle, creator of the 'The Power of Now' and other writings aimed at liberation of the mind and body through practicing presence; there was a man who observed that all these things he had been engaging in for years to ensure his wellness really did not get him any closer to personal peace. Eckhart was made an example in the Q&A because he is not a yogi, he does not practice a regimented diet, he does not receive regular massage in order to feel able to function. He is present, he lives with ego by choosing not to feed his "pain body" which is always looking for the next drama in which to define his life experience. So often when people engage religiously in yoga, clean dieting and the like, it is easy to observe that many are still running from something in their mind. A yoga instructor who practices the craft over 20 hours a week who still has a plaguing pain of the right hip will never heal until the full spectrum is observed. So often emotional and spiritual healing do not cross over to many wellness fads and it is an important, and vital component that I challenge all my massage clients to investigate.
It can be easy to look on at those who practice wellness and think they have it all figured out, but the key thing to remember is that if they were truly well, they really would not need to be involved in so much healing practice.
Instead of drowning out the messages of the body we must strive to understand the dysfunction of our bodies as we heal them. This not only gives your healing purpose, intention, and empowerment; but protects your monetary wealth for continued strain as you repeatedly seek relief without ever identifying and mediating the cause. Only then do we encounter the path to true wellness and ensure that we have a well-thy life in all aspects.
Let me help you on your healing journey. I pledge to you that I will not only strive to bring you relief but to educate you on how to achieve full wellness of body and mind.
Blessings,
Natolie Bester
